Accepting donations is a way to earn IQPIC on platform iqpi.io as a tournament organizer: players voluntarily thank you for the event, and the amount arrives immediately on your personal balance.
Below — what a donation is, how to enable accepting them, how players send money, where it goes, and how a donation differs from an entry fee, the prize pool, and gifts.

What a donation is
A donation is a voluntary transfer to the tournament organizer (not to the prize pool and not as a tournament entry fee).
In the UI for the donor: “Want to thank the organizer for the tournament? Leave a donation…”.
Important:
- money goes to the organizer’s personal IQPIC balance;
- it does not increase the tournament prize pool;
- it is not a mandatory entry fee for participation;
- the platform takes no commission from a donation — the full amount goes to the organizer;
- if the tournament is cancelled, donations are not refunded to the donor.
There is no separate “donation to profile” or “donation to club” payment right now. Supporting someone outside a tournament — via Gifts.
How to enable accepting donations
- Sign in and start creating a tournament (“Create tournament”).
- Turn on the “Accept donations” toggle.
- UI hint: “Enables accepting donations from players on the tournament page”.
- Publish the tournament.
By default, accepting donations is on. If you turn it off — there will be no “Make a donation” button on the tournament page.
Club tournaments
In a club, the right “Receive donations in club tournaments” controls whether the organizer can enable accepting them when creating a club tournament. Even in a club tournament, the donation arrives on the organizer’s personal balance, not the club balance. About clubs: Clubs.
How a donor sends a donation
- Open the tournament page (where the organizer is shown).
- Press “Make a donation”.
- In the modal choose method and amount:
- from the IQPIC balance;
- or pay with crypto (IQPIC / TON / USDT) via Ton Pay.
- Press “Send”.
- On success: “Thank you! Donation sent to the organizer.”
Default amount in the form is 100 (in the chosen units). Any amount greater than zero is allowed (after conversion to IQPIC).
A donor can send a donation several times. In participant lists / tables the donor may show a donor mark (medal / “made a donation” icon).
A guest is directed to sign in. The organizer cannot send a donation to themselves.
When the button is available
The “Make a donation” button is shown if:
- the tournament has “Accept donations” on;
- the tournament is not cancelled;
- the tournament has an organizer.
You can donate during registration / play and after the tournament ends — while accepting is on and the tournament is not cancelled.
If donations are off or the tournament is cancelled, the system says: “Donations for this tournament are unavailable”.
Where the money arrives for the organizer
- Immediately on the organizer’s game IQPIC balance (the same balance as in the account header).
- In balance history: “Donation from user”.
- A notification about the donation arrives (amount and donor nickname).
See incoming funds: /lk/balance — details in Balance management.
For the donor in history: an operation like “Donation to organizer of tournament ‘…’”.
How it differs from other payments
| Action | Where money goes | Required? | Whose income |
|---|---|---|---|
| Donation to organizer | Organizer’s personal balance | No | Organizer immediately |
| Tournament entry fee | Pool and/or org costs per tournament rules | Yes, if fee tournament | Organizer — only the org-cost share, on tournament settlement |
| Add to prize pool | Prize pool | No | Prize-winning participants |
| Gift | Gift catalog / for a financial gift — recipient’s balance | No | Gift recipient (not via the tournament donation button) |
The organizer’s share from entry fees is described in Organizing tournaments. Pool top-ups by participants — in Prize tournaments.
How it differs from other ways to earn
| Method | Who earns | From where |
|---|---|---|
| Rated games | You at the table | Opponent’s Buy-in |
| Prize tournaments | You as a participant | Prize pool |
| Organizing tournaments | You as organizer | Share of fees for org costs |
| Affiliate program | You as referrer | % of referral actions |
| Accepting donations | You as organizer | Voluntary transfers from the tournament page |
Donations combine well with a tournament where fees go entirely to the prize pool: reputation and prizes for players — via the pool; personal thanks — via donations.
Typical scenarios
A. Earning from donations (organizer)
- Create a tournament with “Accept donations” on.
- You can send fees to the prize pool (or run a tournament without an organizer cut from the fee).
- Players press “Make a donation” on the tournament page.
- Amounts appear on your balance immediately.
B. Thank the organizer (donor)
- Find a tournament you like.
- “Make a donation” → amount → “Send” (from balance or crypto).
- The organizer receives IQPIC and a notification.
C. Tournament finished — can I still donate?
Yes, if accepting donations was on and the tournament is not cancelled — the button can stay available after the finish.
FAQ
Is this the same as “add to prize pool”?
No. The pool goes to participant prizes. A donation is personally to the organizer.
Will I get donations if the tournament has no entry fee?
Yes, if “Accept donations” is on. Fee and donation are independent.
Can I accept donations on a profile without a tournament?
There is no separate “donate to profile” button. For support outside a tournament use Gifts.
Where does a donation go in a club tournament?
To the organizer’s personal balance for that tournament, not to the club.
Is a donation refunded if the tournament is cancelled?
No. Donations are not refunded on cancel.
Is there a platform commission on a donation?
No — the organizer receives the transferred amount in full (in IQPIC).
Why “insufficient funds”?
When paying from the balance, the account must cover the donation amount. Top-up: Balance management.
