Organizing tournaments is a way to earn IQPIC on platform iqpi.io not as a player for a prize place, but as an organizer: you create a tournament online (including a Chess prize event), and a share of tournament entry fees can go to you as a reward for organizational costs.

Organizer earnings: the idea

A participant pays an entry fee (if you enabled “Tournament with entry fee”). In settings you choose where the fee goes:

In the creation UI, the fee recipient is set as:

• “Tournament (prize pool)”;
• “Organizer”;
• “Mixed” — with a separate “% to organizer”.

Mixed and “Organizer” are the main money interest of the “Organizing tournaments” article in the Earnings section.

You can also enable accepting donations — voluntary transfers to the organizer (not to be confused with “add to prize pool”). See Donations.

How it differs from other ways to earn

The prize pool you funded or collected for players is not your profit: it is paid to prize-winners. Your income from fees is only the share directed to organizational costs.

What you need to organize

1. An account on iqpi.io and sign-in to the personal account.
2. Enough IQPIC on the balance: to start creation the system may require a minimum (if short — “Insufficient funds” with “needed / on balance / shortfall” and a top-up button). Top-up: Balance management.
3. If the tournament is prize with a pre-set pool (not “from fees only”) — before publish you need prize-pool funding from your balance (a deposit under player payouts; refunded on cancel).

Tournament games: Chess, Capital Chess, Tetris, Tetris: Attack. Swedish is not created in the tournament catalog.

How to create a tournament online (briefly)

1. In the account press “Create tournament”.
2. Choose the game type (Chess / Tetris and mode details) and base flags:
   • Prize tournament — there will be a prize pool (for Chess events — an online Chess prize tournament);
   • Tournament with entry fee — registration requires a fee;
   • Open tournament — available to a wide audience (otherwise limits are possible, e.g. friends only).
3. Complete the wizard steps (name, system, fee and recipient, pool, requirements, schedule, etc.).
4. Publish the tournament (for a prize event with a fixed pool — deposit funding).

Configuring the fee for organizer earnings

Enable “Tournament with entry fee” and set the “Entry fee” amount in IQPIC.

Then choose the recipient:

Option A. All to the organizer

Recipient: Organizer.

Hint for players: 100% of fees go to organizational costs.

Your income per participant ≈ the full fee amount (minus refunds if someone left during registration).

Fits when the tournament has no large prize pool or you fund the prize another way (your own funding / donations to the pool).

Option B. Mixed

Recipient: Mixed, set “% to organizer” (the rest goes to the prize pool).

Hint for players: N% to the prize pool, M% to organizational costs.

This way you simultaneously:

• build an attractive pool for participants;
• keep a share for organization.

Option C. All to the pool

Recipient: Tournament (prize pool).

You earn nothing from fees; only the prize for players grows. Makes sense for reputation and large prizes without an organizer cut from entry.

You can combine with a “formed from fees only” pool scheme — then prize size grows as registrations come in.

When the organizer’s share arrives on the balance

The share of fees for organizational costs is credited to you as part of tournament completion and settlement (together with prize-payout logic), not as an instant “cashback” at each player payment.

In balance history the operation looks like: “Organizer percentage payout in tournament ‘…’”.

If auto prize payout is on — settlement runs automatically soon after completion (15 minutes, same as participant prizes). If auto payout is off — you can pay prizes manually; delayed platform settlement is also possible later (without auto payout — 12 hours, as in Prize tournaments).

While registration is open, a participant can leave the tournament — the fee is refunded, and your future share from that person does not accumulate.

On cancellation, fees and funding are refunded — there is no earnings from an event that did not take place.

Other organizer income

• Donations to the organizer — if “Accept donations” is on: players thank you personally. This is separate from the fee and from topping up the prize pool. Details: Donations.
• Add to prize pool — increases prizes for participants, not your personal income.

Organizer duties (briefly)

For the tournament to reach payouts and for you to receive your share:

• watch registration, start, and progress of rounds / bracket;
• manage participants when needed (including disqualification for violations — see the block in Prize tournaments);
• for a prize tournament, ensure correct prize payout (auto or payout button);
• respond to participants on disputed situations.

Without bringing the tournament to completion, organizer-share settlement does not happen in the normal scenario.

Typical earning scenarios

A. “For organization” tournament (100% of fees to you)

1. Create a fee tournament, recipient — Organizer.
2. Prize pool — small, your own, or without a large deposit (per your model).
3. Gather participants; each paid fee accumulates in your favor.
4. After completion receive the organizer percentage payout (effectively 100% of collected fees minus refunds) on /lk/balance.

B. Prize + mixed fee

1. Enable prize tournament and entry fee.
2. Recipient — Mixed, e.g. part to pool, part % to organizer.
3. Fund the pool on publish (if the pool is not “from fees only”).
4. Participants see both the prize and a clear hint about org costs.
5. After finish: players — prizes for places; you — organizer share.

C. Large prize without your cut from the fee

1. Fees → prize pool (or pool from fees only).
2. Your earnings — via donations and/or reputation, not via a fee %.
3. Watch funding and auto prize payout.

FAQ

Can I take the prize pool for myself?

No. The pool is for prize places. Your income from fees is only the share for organizational costs (and donations separately).

When will I see money from fees?

After the tournament ends and settlement (auto or manual/delayed payout). In history: “Organizer percentage payout…”.

A player left during registration — did I lose their fee?

The fee is refunded to them; it does not enter your share.

How does “% to organizer” differ from a donation?

The percentage is a mandatory part of the entry fee by tournament rules. A donation is a voluntary payment to you personally, if accepting donations is on.

How much IQPIC do I need to create a tournament?

The amount is set by the platform and shown in the window if the balance is short. Check the current figure in the UI and top up.
